Coverage Area

Located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, we are fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful areas of Vermont, and this country. The village of Peacham (known as the most photographed village in Vermont) and the surrounding communities of South Peacham, East Peacham and Green Bay make up the majority of the fire protection area. Many ponds, forest and fields fill the landscape. Opportunities for fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and simply enjoying the beauty of the countryside are abundant.

In total there are over 36 square miles to be protected. The fire protection area abuts the neighboring towns of Groton, Ryegate, Barnet, Cabot and Danville. We are fortunate to receive superior mutual aid support from our neighboring departments when they are called upon.

Fire protection and EMS coverage is provided for:

Two churches ~ Senior citizen housing ~ Several stores ~ In-home businesses ~ Two schools ~ Public library ~ Several daycare and home school facilities ~ Community and town buildings ~ Numerous working farms ~ Residential homes ~ as well as vast amounts of open area, a state forest, hiking trails, and remotely located camps/seasonal dwellings .
The firefighting challenges of water supply, access and exposure to brush fires exist.
