Peacham Volunteer Fire Department

Fire Critique held on June 11 @ 1900 hrs
The department will hold an instructional critique of the Ewell Mill Road structure fire on June 11th at 1900 hrs at the Peacham station. Departments who responded as mutual aid are welcome to attend.The fire started in the structure on Friday, May 25th and burned for quite a while until reported by a passing motorist. Upon arrival of the first due engine (Peacham Engine 1) the fire was through the roof. See a photo from the Caledonia Record. The cause was attributed to lightning. Additional photos of the building taken the next morning give you some idea of the extent of the damage.

Community Voices Support of Article 14 at Town Meeting
The department members would like to thank everyone for their support of Article 14 at this year's town meeting. The passage of this article will allow the fire department to investigate a replacement for the current rescue vehicle.

Members Ask for Community Support of Article 14 at Town Meeting The department requests your support on Article 14 at this year's Town Meeting: "Article 14- Shall the voters appropriate the sum of $15,000.00 to be raised by taxes, and to be held in a reserve fund until used, for the purpose of the acquisition of a new rescue vehicle for the Fire Department." More information will be presented by Chief Berwick during this year's town meeting on a plan to replace Rescue 1. (Feb 2007)

Working to Replace Rescue 1 Department members have been meeting to discuss the replacement of Rescue 1, a 1989 Ford E-350 van. The Rescue vehicle is an extremely important piece of apparatus that responds to all medical and fire emergencies, both within and outside the town. The fire department has been busy working on the details for the replacement for Rescue 1. Vendors and manufacturers have been contacted and specifications have been developed. A firm "dollar value" will be needed so that a vote can go before the public at the March 2007 town meeting. (Jan 2007)
